Empowering Women and Girls: Stories of Strength from Nabugabo - March 2024

Reflecting on my recent visit to Nabugabo, Uganda, I want to celebrate the amazing girls and women, who have to overcome challenges and obstacles every day in their fight for gender equality in rural Uganda. At Nabugabo Primary School we want to empower girls and women through education, and raise awareness about women's rights and equal opportunities now and in the future. The below photos include our eight female staff who are strong and supportive, our primary 7 girls who are in their last year of primary, and are courageous and resilient, and our Primary 1 girls, who we will work hard to ensure they grow up in a more inclusive and equal community which allows them to pursue their personal life goals outside of hierarchical gender expectations.
